KONA WORLD
CHAMPIONSHIPS

A tradition since 2006

Every year, the Kona World Championship is a marquee event on the international windsurfing calendar.

It’s an opportunity for racers around the world to get together for a week, visit an iconic sailing destination and take stock of all the latest and greatest in the Class. In a long tradition of inclusiveness, the Kona Worlds have been, and continue to be, an open event – meaning that there’s no stringent qualification requirements to attend: all windsurfers are welcome, regardless of level, and our race officials make sure that the courses and sailing conditions are appropriate for everyone. To date, more than 800 enthusiastic windsurfers have taken part in at least one edition of the Kona Worlds, and every year more newcomers join in the fun. The competition is real and hard-fought (it’s sanctioned by World Sailing, after all), but the main takeaway is always the shared spirit and the opportunity to make friends with like-minded people from around the world!
