1.RULES
1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the ISAF
Racing Rules (RR) of Sailing (RRS) including Appendix B (Windsurfing
Competition Rules), and the Class Rules of the Kona Windsurfing
Association (KWA).
2. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take
precedence.
3. The Race Committee will subject boats to random Measurement checks.
An appointed committee will check the observance of the rules and the
safety equipment. In alteration of RRS 63.1 boats not complying with
the rules will be penalized without a protest hearing.
2. ADVERTISING
The ISAF Regulation 20 Advertising Code shall apply.
3.ENTRIES and ENTRY FEE
Competitors shall enter by filling in the on-line entry form at
http://www.konaone.com/Event/59/world-championship-2012.
The entry fee is 190 Euro. Youth below 18 will pay
the reduced fee of 140 Euro.
Terms; Deposit of 30% shall be paid by bank transfer no later than September 1st. Remaining amount is payable (cash) at registration.
Early payments; Competitors paying full deposits prior to July 1st, will be discounted 15% on remaining amount at registration.
Later entries/payments may be accepted at an extra charge of 20%.

4. ELIGIBILITY and DISCIPLINE
The 2012 Kona Worlds is open to all sailors in the following
divisions and in accordance with the Kona Class Rules:
Light weight
Medium light weight
Medium weight
Heavy weight
Ladies division
Cadet division
5. COURSES and SCORING
1. The courses will be defined in the sailing instructions.
2. Boats will be scored in accordance with the low points scoring
system (App A4).
The maximum number of 12 course races is scheduled.
The worst result(s) of a competitor will be discarded as follows;
(RR App B8.2): 1-4 races: no discards, 5-11 races: 1
discard, 12 races: 2 discards.
6. VENUE
The Venue is located in Laspalomas, Grand Canary island, Spain.
7. SCHEDULE
1. Registration:
The regatta office is located at beach area and will be open
daily from 08.00 hours.
2. Boats which are not registered at least 1 hour before their first
start may be scored DNS.
3. Skippers Meetings:
The locations and times for the Skippers meetings will be published in
the sailing instruction or on the Official Notice Board at 18.00 hours from registration day onwards.

3 November; Race 1, 2 and 3. Welcome party.
4 November; Race 4, 5, 6 and 7.
5 November; Fun day with Long distance and SUP.
6 November; Race 8, 9 and 10

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.
9. JURY
An International Jury according to RR 70.5 (Mandatory for World- or Continental
Championships) will be appointed. Their decisions are
final and can not be appealed according to RR 70.4.
10. BUOYONCY
If personal buoyancy is prescribed, each competitor shall wear, above
the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kgs.
The buoyancy shall be tested with a metal weight of 4kgs which shall
remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes in fresh water.
11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The organizing
authority or any of their officials or representatives are not
responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury
either ashore or on the water for either individuals nor equipment.
Participation in this event or supporting events is at the sole
discretion of the sailors, acknowledging this upon registration.
12. CHARTER BOARDS/RIGS
120 pcs of charter boards/rigs are available, but early bookings are recommended.. The charter fee is 200 Euro for boards(100€) and rig(100€) Select your equipment here
only.Complete rigs may be purchased on site at special prices – if ordered no later than July 1st.
Subsequent to the events the charter boards/rigs may be purchased at very

13. ACCOMMODATION
The official event hotel is HOTEL DUNAS MIRADOR which is a spacious 3 star hotel located close to the event site.
Price per night/person (Double room standard) is 35 Euro, including breakfast, dinner and transportation to and from the beach. 50% discount for children below 12 years of age. (5% tax not included) November is high season at Grand Canaria, so early bookings are recommended;

14. FURTHER INFORMATION
When participating in the event, a competitor automatically grants
the organizing authority and the sponsors of this regatta, the right
in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their
discretion - any motion pictures, still motion pictures and live, taped
or filmed television and other reproductions of him/her during the
period of the competition without compensation.
